Columbus, OH, April 2011--Health Care DataWorks, Inc. (HCD), a provider of enterprise data warehousing and business analytics solutions for healthcare organizations, today announced that it has been included in the list of “Cool Vendors in Healthcare Providers, 2011” report by Gartner, Inc. HCD is one of five vendors highlighted in the report. The Cool Vendors are recognized for providing innovative and potentially transformative solutions for healthcare delivery organizations (HDOs). The authors of the report include senior Gartner analysts Jonathan Edwards, Barry Runyon, Vi Shaffer, Thomas J. Handler, M.D. and Wes Rishel.

One of the report’s key findings is, “HDOs are highly interested in deploying enterprise data warehouses (EDWs) to integrate clinical data into their business intelligence (BI) and performance management initiatives, but few have the necessary expertise to do this.”

Health Care DataWorks offers healthcare delivery organizations an Electronic Data Warehouse Appliance that includes a robust healthcare enterprise data model, hundreds of standard reports and a number of pre-built dashboards and scorecards.

“We believe inclusion in Gartner’s Cool Vendor report confirms our conviction that we are on the cusp of a decade of analytics in healthcare.  It is our belief that analytics is a key competency that every health system is going to need to develop in order to be successful, said HCD CEO Detlev (Herb) Smaltz. “We are pleased that our EDW Appliance has been recognized by Gartner as an innovative solution, allowing health care organizations to rapidly build an EDW in a portion of the time that would be required otherwise.”

As health care organizations move toward a reimbursement model heavily weighted on quality and accountability, EDW’s are a critical component for health systems to be successful.  Health Care Organizations such as Essentia Health have recently turned to Health Care DataWorks to ensure they have the EDW Appliance they need in order to reach their goals.

About Gartner's Cool Vendors Selection Process

Gartner's listing does not constitute an exhaustive list of vendors in any given technology area, but rather is designed to highlight interesting, new and innovative vendors, products and services. Gartner disclaims all warranties, expressed or implied, with respect to this research, including any warranties of merchantability or fitness of a particular purpose.

Gartner defines a cool vendor as a company that offers technologies or solutions that are: Innovative, enable users to do things they couldn't do before; Impactful, have, or will have, business impact (not just technology for the sake of technology); Intriguing, have caught Gartner's interest or curiosity in approximately the past six months.
